Summary:
BeFine is a personal finance tool created for people that are living on the margins and need guidance to get them into prosperity. It serves as a roadmap to financial wellness by providing a path to paying down debt, saving for emergencies, and building a budget that works. The project was already in development when my team and I were brought on, but the client was not satisfied with what had been created. The client realized the app was missing 2 core features be successful.
The Ask:
Find a way to integrate with the user’s banking institutions so they can automatically track spending, check account balances, and see all their finances in one place. Second, add in-app messaging to provide real time feedback and guidance. Finally, conduct a thorough audit of the design and find ways to improve it.
My Role
As the UI lead, I audited the app to understand how it was organized and learn its design language. I optimized the colors, fonts, and balance of elements on screen. The UX designer and I brainstormed how we should integrate the new features into the existing structure so it felt frictionless. We worked with a copywriter to craft messages that would motivate the user base and created micro-interactions that would spark joy throughout the journey to financial wellness.
